Chandigarh: Those who turned over Guru Granth Sahib to the police cannot be considered true "waris" of Punjab. C.M. Mann. On Saturday, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann remarked that people who used the Guru Granth Sahib as a shield at a police station cannot be considered the 'waris' (heir) of Punjab.
A few days prior to his comments, on Thursday, self-proclaimed Sikh preacher and Khalistani sympathiser Amritpal Singh and his supporters, some of whom brandished swords and guns, broke through barricades and barged into a police station in Ajnala on the outskirts of the city of Amritsar, demanding the release of his aide and kidnapping case accused Lovepreet Singh.
